With Rooftop Pergola Gone, South Street Seaport Pier 17 Plan Sails Past Landmarks

One of the most controversial developments in Lower Manhattan got a big thumbs up from the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday. The LPC approved the Howard Hughes Corporation plan for Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport, which includes demolition of the Link Building. A big point of contention when the plan was presented in August was a proposed rooftop pergola. With that removed, commission approval was a snap. Tuesday’s presentation also revealed some new renderings of the site.

Construction Update: 100 Greenwich Street

Construction at 100 Greenwich Street is in full swing, as the 25 story hotel’s lower levels are now taking shape. The building was designed by architect Gene Kaufman, whose similarly scaled hotel at 6 Water Street is currently rising on Manhattan’s southern tip.

New Look: School to Condo Conversion at 34 Prince Street

The lovely 19th century building at the corner of Prince and Mott Streets in Nolita has been an orphanage, a school, and a convent, but now a developer has begun transforming the landmarked structure into condos. Today, YIMBY has a new rendering of the structure’s restored facade, as well as a series of images based on historic photographs of the property at 34 Prince Street.

Construction Update: 6 Water Street Reaches Eighth Floor

The hotel at 6 Water Street in the Financial District, slated to stand 29 stories tall, has reached its eighth floor. The future 249 room establishment, designed by Gene Kaufman, is located near the southern tip of Manhattan, making it the southernmost construction project on the island. Only seven highrise buildings claim a latitude further south.

New Renderings for 118 Fulton Street, 49-Story Residential Tower Coming to the Financial District

Late last year, YIMBY posted a video featuring renderings of plans for a new 63-story residential tower at 118 Fulton Street. The design featured in the film was originally created for the Lightstone Group, which sold off 112-118 Fulton Street to Carmel Partners last September for $171 million. But while the site’s developer has changed, its appearance has seemingly stayed the same, and a new on-site rendering confirms that a design similar to the one previously posted will be built.

5,000-Foot Long Pedestrian Bridge Would Link New Jersey To Downtown Manhattan

Kevin Shane and New Jersey-based Jeff Jordan Architects have conceptualized a 200-foot tall, 5,000-foot long pedestrian bridge linking Jersey City to Battery Park City, in Downtown Manhattan. Dubbed Liberty Bridge, the link would provide commuters with an alternative to public transit, according to Jersey Digs. The bridge would include both pedestrian and bike lanes, as well as retail spaces, works of art, park space, and solar panels.

First Glimpse at 30 Warren, Full-Block Tribeca Condo Project Replacing 149 Church Street

Back during the Great Filing Frenzy of September 2014, YIMBY reported on applications that were submitted for a new development at 149 Church Street, on the corner of Warren Street, in Tribeca. And now we have the first two renderings of the project, now known as 30 Warren Street, as well as word that a teaser website is now live with additional details.
