Plan for “Chestnut Commons” Affordable Housing Revealed in East New York

Plans have been announced for 274 affordable housing units as part of a project entitled Chestnut Commons, in East New York. A rezoning shift pushed by the East New York Neighborhood Plan is mostly responsible for the site’s potential. The building will be affordable to households earning up to $51,540, with more than 80 units for households earning up to $25,770, including a set-aside for formerly homeless families and individuals.

Reveal For 3301 Atlantic Avenue, Another Massive Mixed-Use Development Coming to East New York

With East New York’s rezoning now finalized, YIMBY recently revealed one of the first big developments coming to the neighborhood, at 1427-1429 Loring Avenue. Permits were also recently filed for a new complex at 3301 Atlantic Avenue/250 Euclid Avenue, at the end of January. Now, we have the first rendering for that building as well, which is being designed by Dattner Architects.

Reveal for East New York’s First Huge Redevelopment at 1427-1449 Loring Avenue

East New York has been in the headlines recently thanks to a major rezoning that is paving the way for the area’s transformation into a denser and fully revitalized neighborhood, and now YIMBY has the first images of a major new development coming to 1427-1449 Loring Avenue. The plans, designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning, PC, would result in four buildings covering an entire city block.

Medical Building Rises on Site of Historic East New York Bank at 101 Pennsylvania Avenue

East New Yorkers rallied early last year to save a historic bank building at 91 Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, after plans surfaced for a seven-story medical building that would replace it. The wrecking ball ultimately came for the 19th century Renaissance Revival bank designed by Richard Upjohn, and now the new medical facility is rising fast.
