Wrapping up the year and YIMBY’s construction countdown, it comes as no surprise that Extell‘s Central Park Tower tops the list. The supertall will soon become New York City’s tallest residential building, and it will also have the highest roof of any structure in the Five Boroughs. The 1,550-foot-tall tower is being designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. The site has previously gone by its address, 217 West 57th Street. The building has now surpassed its 90th floor, and currently stands over 1,300 feet atop 57th Street.

With its reflective chevron window pattern on the north and south elevations, the glass residential building holds 1,260,000 square feet of space with 25,516 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. It was designed by Adamson Associates, and is being developed and marketed by Extell.
Full demolition permits have been filed for the six-story brick building at 1651 1st Avenue in Yorkville, Manhattan. The current 62-foot tall structure has been used as walkup housing since 1920, with 16 residential units and two units uses as commercial space on the ground level. It is unclear what plans are in store for the 2,200 square foot lot as no new building permits have been filed. David Rothstein of Extell is listed as the owner of the site.

Sales are being handled by Extell‘s in-house team.
