52-Story, 586-Unit Mixed-Use Tower Tops Out At 250 Ashland Place, Fort Greene

In the beginning of August, YIMBY posted a construction update on the 52-story, 586-unit mixed-use building at 250 Ashland Place, in Fort Greene/DoBro, and now the building appears to have topped-out, per the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Cladding installation is moving quickly, and windows are also now up to the 20th floor. The ground floor will contain 10,800 square feet of retail, as well as 8,000 square feet of office space. Gotham Organization is developing while FXFOWLE Architects is designing, and completion is expected in 2016.

Construction Update: 250 Ashland Place, Downtown Brooklyn

Permits Filed, New Renderings for La Central Affordable Housing and YMCA in Melrose

Two weeks ago, YIMBY reported on the first permits for La Central, a sprawling affordable housing complex set to rise on a vacant lot in the Melrose section of the South Bronx. Now the city has filed more plans for the development’s two biggest residential towers at 556 and 600 Bergen Avenue, about two blocks from the 3rd Avenue-East 149th Street stop on the 2/5 trains. We’ve also got a few new renderings, including interiors for a planned YMCA.

Permits Filed: 147-30 Archer Avenue, The Crossing at Jamaica Station

BRP Companies plans to spend nearly $300 million developing two mixed-use high rises just north of Jamaica Station in Queens, in what some have called the “largest private investment in Downtown Jamaica in decades.” Now they’ve filed new building applications for their megaproject on Archer Avenue and Sutphin Boulevard, a combination of a church, mixed-income apartments and retail.

Permits Filed: 626 Bergen Avenue, La Central Supportive Housing, Melrose

At the very end of Bloomberg’s term as mayor, the city unveiled plans to transform a vacant city-owned tract in the Melrose neighborhood of the South Bronx into a million-square-foot affordable housing complex known as La Central. Now a new building application has been filed for the first part of the project, a nine-story supportive housing development at 626 Bergen Avenue.
