Construction on the future Ace Hotel at 266 Schermerhorn Street is now making substantial progress, with the building reaching the halfway mark, as seen in the latest photos from Tectonic. Located in Downtown Brooklyn between the Hoyt-Schermerhorn and Nevins St subway line, the new 13-story hotel is designed by Roman and Williams Buildings and Interiors, and is being developed by GFI Hospitality and GFI Development Company.
It was back in 2014 that we brought you news of permits having been filed for a new hotel at 61 Bond Street (a.k.a. 252 Schermerhorn Street), between Schermerhorn and State streets, barely inside Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill neighborhood. Now, thanks to photos from our friend Tectonic, we can see that the parking lot has been cleared and heavy equipment is at work.
Back in June, YIMBY last brought you a construction update on the 51-story, 68-unit residential tower at 5 Beekman Street/115 Nassau Street, in the Financial District. In the summer, the building was a few floors from topping out, and now, per Curbed, the building has topped out with exception of the metal ornamental turrets. The Gerner Kronick + Valcarcel-designed tower rises from the 10-story Temple Court building, which is also being converted into a 287-key hotel. GFI Capital and GB Lodging are developing, and completion is expected next year on both components of the project.
