Klövern and GDS Development Break Ground on 28 & 7 Office Building, at 322-326 Seventh Avenue, in Chelsea

Klövern and GDS Development recently broke ground on a new Manhattan boutique office project in Chelsea, called 28 & 7. Skidmore Owings & Merrill is the designer of the 12-story, class A office structure, which is located at 322-326 Seventh Avenue and is one of three properties that the two developers are working together on in New York City. Klövern is aiming to bring a more Scandinavian-inspired approach to the office market with higher sustainability standards and a more “human-scaled” design approach.

GDSNY’s 1241 Broadway Begins To Rise As Excavation Work Wraps, in NoMad

Work at the corner lot for 1241 Broadway in NoMad is seeing a lot of activity in preparation for a 22-story, SOM-designed commercial office building. Excavation on the perimeter of the site is finishing up, while work on the reinforced concrete foundations and core walls is happening simultaneously. This is a rapid change of pace since YIMBY last visited the Midtown location a couple months ago, when it was still quiet. The future 318-foot-tall, 170,000-square-foot tower is being developed by GDS Development and Sweden-based Klovern. Triton Construction is currently in charge of building the structure.

500 West 25th Street Tops Out Next to High Line, in Chelsea

Construction at 500 West 25th Street is now topped out and the installation of glass panels in the curtain wall is almost complete. GF55 Partners is the architect of record for the ten-story building while GDS Development is the developer. The site is located next to the High Line at the corner of West 25th Street and Tenth Avenue.

Permits Filed for 12-Story Office Building at 322 Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan

Permits have been filed for a 12-story class A office building at 322 Seventh Avenue in Chelsea, Manhattan. Located on the northwest corner of 28th Street and Seventh avenue, the lot is steps away from the 28th Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. It is also directly opposite the Fashion Institute of Technology. Michael Kirchmann and Alan Rudikoff of GDSNY is developing the boutique office tower.

Michael Kirchmann of GDSNY Updates YIMBY With Fresh Renderings of SOM-Designed 1241 Broadway, in NoMad

YIMBY has covered plans for a new office building at 1241 Broadway extensively over the past few weeks, first reporting on the applications and initial rendering, and then checking in on site progress. Today, we can reveal the updated current design thanks to developer Michael Kirchmann of GDSNY, who also told us all about the project and its burgeoning surrounds in an interview ahead of the groundbreaking ceremony, scheduled for this morning. Sweden-based Klovern is also behind the plans.

The Eduardo Kobra mural that used to occupy the side of 253 10th Avenue, which is about to be redeveloped.

Permits Filed: 500 West 25th Street, Chelsea

Days are numbered for the auto body shops, car washes, and gas stations near the High Line in Chelsea. They’re slowly being replaced with apartments, art galleries, and artisanal food shops. Last week, plans were filed for a new building that would replace a car stereo store on the corner of West 25th Street and Tenth Avenue.
