Gene Kaufman’s 1,048-Room Hotel at 150 West 48th Street Passes Halfway Mark in Times Square, Manhattan

Construction is continuing to rise on 150 West 48th Street, a 330-foot tall, 38-story Hilton hotel in Times Square. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, the 320,000-square-foot structure will yield 1,048 hotel rooms, up from the previous reported count of 974, making it the ninth-largest hotel in New York City. McSam Hotel Group purchased the site from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 for $140 million, and received a $250 million construction loan before work broke ground in 2020. Omnibuild is in charge of constructing the hotel.

Construction Wraps on 11 Greene Street in Soho, Manhattan

Exterior work is now complete on 11 Greene Street, a seven-story residential building in Soho. The property is designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Arch Companies, which took over from Thor Equities and secured a $45 million loan to finish the project in early 2018. Located at the corner of Greene and Canal Streets, the building yields 31 units ranging from one- to two-bedroom layouts alongside a three-bedroom penthouse. Exterior work is nearing completion on 120 Water Street, a slender 28-story tower that will house a Hotel Indigo in the Financial District. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architects and developed by Atlas Hospitality, the 52,000-square-foot structure will yield 28 rooms managed by Fortuna Realty Group. The site is located along Water Street between Pine and Wall Streets, and is tightly wedged between two abutting buildings.

291 Livingston Street’s Dazzle Mural Revealed in Downtown Brooklyn

Scaffolding has been removed from 291 Livingston Street revealing the large mural on the western elevation of the 22-story hotel in Downtown Brooklyn. The 189-foot-tall project is designed by Gene Kaufman Architect and is being developed by Aview Equities and Hello Living, which purchased the plot for $11.1 million. Located between Nevins Street to the east and Hanover Place to the west, the property will yield 100 hotel rooms and a ground-floor beer garden.
