Proposals to construct a new observation deck on the upper floors of the Chrysler Building have arrived for review by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. As promised by Aby Rosen, co-founder of RFR Holding and part-owner of the Midtown East icon, these plans comprise just one phase of his vision to invigorate interior spaces of the landmark at 405 Lexington Avenue with new restaurants, a food hall, and retail spaces.
Permits have been filed for a nine-story mixed-use building at 160 East 125th Street in Harlem, Manhattan. Located between Third Avenue and Lexington Avenue, the through lot is steps from the 125th Street subway station at Lexington Avenue, serviced by the 4, 5, and 6 trains. Extell under the 160 East 125th Owner LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
25 Kent Avenue in North Williamsburg, Brooklyn is designed by Hollwich Kushner with Gensler as the design development architect. The eight-story building features a distinctive stepped massing and spans an entire city block, yielding half a million square feet of office space with 15-foot ceilings. The project is developed by Rubenstein Partners and Heritage Equity Partners, who are continuing to fill the property and aim for full occupancy by the middle of 2021. 25 Kent Avenue is the first commercial office building to be constructed in the area in more than 40 years.
Dress for Success Worldwide recently completed a new office in Jamaica, Queens, where the global organization plans to expand its regional operations. The single-story building is located at 129-11 Merrick Boulevard and was designed in partnership with Gensler.
This week, the City Planning Commission approved 550 Madison Avenue‘s Snøhetta-designed gardens. The public space surrounding the iconic Midtown East office tower will measure 21,000 square feet and include a café, elevated and ground-level landscaping, expanded seating and additional tables, and public bathrooms.
