Permits Filed for 55 Flatbush Avenue Ext., Downtown Brooklyn

Most new developments comprising the Downtown Brooklyn boom are residential, but a sprinkling of commercial infill has also been occurring, and today, applications have been filed for a combination hotel and house of worship. Located at 55 Flatbush Avenue Ext., the plans seem somewhat irregular, and the hotel will actually occupy the lower floors of the building, with 71 rooms spanning the first 11 floors. The house of worship will be located on floors 12 through 16. Within the building’s 43,220 square feet of construction area, the hotel will total 21,541 square feet, and the community facility, 8,082 square feet. Gerald Caliendo is the architect of record, Jack Suratwala of Flatbush Hospitality LLC is listed as the developer, and the lot is already vacant.

Reveal for 62-41 Forest Avenue, Ridgewood, Queens

Applications for a new development at 62-41 Forest Avenue in Queens’ Ridgewood neighborhood were first filed all the way back in 2011. Four-Story, Eight-Unit Residential Project Planned at 102 Somers Street, Ocean Hill

An Upper West Side-based property owner has filed applications for a four-story, eight-unit residential project at 102 Somers Street, in Ocean Hill. The new building will measure 8,140 square feet and its residential units should average 701 square feet apiece, indicative of rental apartments. There will be two apartments across the ground floor and associated mezzanine level, followed by two apartments on each of the second and third floors, and two more apartments across the fourth floor and associated upper mezzanine level. Gerald J. Caliendo’s Briarwood-based firm is the architect of record. The 1,875-square-foot plot is vacant.

Three Three-Story, Two-Family Houses Coming to 916 Wilcox Avenue, Throggs Neck

Rosyln Heights, N.Y.-based Adee Group has filed applications three three-story, two-family houses at 916-920 Wilcox Avenue, in the Throggs Neck section of the East Bronx. The buildings will measure between 4,155 and 4,285 square feet. Across all three, the residential units should average a family-size 1,326 square feet apiece. There will also be eight off-street parking spaces between the buildings, two of which will be housed in a garage. Gerald J. Caliendo’s Briarwood-based firm is the architect of record. The 7,089-square-foot plot is currently occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits were filed in August of last year.
