Thorobird Companies is already planning two 12-story affordable rental buildings in Mount Hope, in the central Bronx. They also filed building applications for a third, 12-story project at 2195 Morris Avenue in Fordham Heights, half a dozen blocks to the north and west of the Mount Hope developments.
A pair of 12-story affordable rental buildings are coming to two blocks in Mount Hope, in the central Bronx. Developer Thorobird Companies is planning to construct the two buildings at 225 East 179th Street and 220 East 178th Street, a block apart between Anthony Avenue and Grand Concourse.
Construction is now underway on the eighth floor of the nine-story, 86-unit residential building under development at 25-19 43rd Avenue, in the Court Square/Queens Plaza section of Long Island City. The progress can be seen thanks to a photo included in an update by The Court Square Blog. The latest building permits indicate the new building, dubbed Dutch LIC, will encompass 90,173 square feet. Its residential units, condominiums ranging from studios to two-bedrooms, should average 792 square feet apiece. Amenities include storage for 44 bikes, a 17-car parking garage on the ground floor, a lounge, a fitness center, an outdoor recreational area on the second floor, and a rooftop terrace. Ekstein Development is the developer and GF55 Partners is behind the design. Completion is expected in early 2017.
A 12-story, mixed-use tower may fill a parking lot in downtown Jamaica, Queens. Plans have been filed for a 122-foot-tall development at 89-50 164th Street, between 89th and Jamaica avenues.
Days are numbered for the auto body shops, car washes, and gas stations near the High Line in Chelsea. They’re slowly being replaced with apartments, art galleries, and artisanal food shops. Last week, plans were filed for a new building that would replace a car stereo store on the corner of West 25th Street and Tenth Avenue.
