Construction Update, New Renderings for 150 Rivington Street, Lower East Side, Manhattan

A new seven-story residential building is starting to rise above its townhouse neighbors on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. 150 Rivington Street is located in a quiet spot of the bustling neighborhood, three blocks away from the Delancey-Essex Street Subway Station, serviced by the F, J, M, and Z trains. Cogswell Lee Development will be responsible for the development, which replaces the old Streitz Matzo Factory.

Permits Filed for 145 West 110th Street, Harlem

Central Park North doesn’t often see new developments, but now, new building applications have been filed for a vacant site at 145 West 110th Street, in Harlem. The structure will stand 13 stories and 135 feet to its roof, containing 55,634 square feet of residential space, which will be divided between 36 units. At an average size of over 1,500 square feet, that means condominiums are very likely. Gluck+ Architects will be designing the project, and Yiannes Einhorn of Einhorn Development Group is the developer.

Reveal for Seven-Story, 45-Unit Mixed-Use Project Planned at 150 Rivington Street, Lower East Side

Earlier this year, applications were filed to demolish the former Streit’s Matzo Factory to the ground floor. The developer wants to build a seven-story, 45-unit mixed-use building with 10,219 square feet of ground and cellar-level retail space from the remnants, at 148-154 Rivington Street, on the Lower East Side. Renderings of the project have now been revealed by the New York Times, which can also report that apartments will be condominiums with one- and two-bedroom configurations. The amount of retail space has also been increased to 13,000 square feet. Cogswell Lee Development (the development arm of Cogswell Realty) is the developer, and GLUCK+ is behind the design. Demolition of the factory is expected to commence in the coming weeks.

Permits Filed for Van Sinderen Plaza, 130-Unit, Two-Building Project in East New York

The city is about to rezone the northeastern swath of East New York around Broadway Junction, but development is still brewing at the neighborhood’s far-flung edges. MacQuesten Development has filed plans for a sizable affordable project called Van Sinderen Plaza in the New Lots section of the hood, beneath the elevated L train tracks and next to the border with Brownsville.
