Construction at 533 Mercer Street, aka 289 Jordan, has risen above street level in the McGinley Square neighborhood of Jersey City. Located at the intersection of Mercer Street and Jordan Street, the 16-story mixed-use residential property will contain a total of 300 apartments. These will include 56 affordable housing units, 138 studios, 90 one-bedroom homes, 33 two-bedrooms, and six three-bedroom homes. The project is being designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects and developed by Mercer Jordan LLC, an affiliate of New York-based company Sequoia Development Group, GRID Real Estate and Dresdner Robin.

711 Montgomery Street in Jersey City has sold to Sequoia Development Group for an undisclosed amount. The sellers, Florida-based Rescore Montgomery LLC, had purchased the site in April 2015 for $4.5 million. Sequoia Development Group joined a partnership with Grid Real Estate to work on the development. The 16-story project is expected to yield 309 apartments, and today YIMBY has the first look at renderings.

16-Story, 300-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 533 Mercer Street, Jersey City

Sequoia Development Group and GRID Real Estate are planning a 16-story, 300-unit mixed-use building at 533 Mercer Street, located on the corner of Jordan Avenue in the McGinley Square section of Jersey City. Dubbed 289 Jordan, it would include apartments ranging from studios to three-bedrooms, of which 56 units, or roughly 19 percent, would be designated as affordable. There would also be 4,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, Jersey Digs reported. Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects is responsible for the design. Before the as-of-right project can rise, a collection of single- to three-story mixed-use structures must first be demolished.
