Construction for the Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel at 12 East 48th Street is making substantial headway, as the facade and window systems begin to take shape. The 31-story hotel is being designed by Handel Architects and will eventually contain 161 rooms, an outdoor terrace, and ground floor retail.
Demolition permits have been filed for the one-story building at 151 Broome Street, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Located between Clinton Street and Pitt Street, the mid-block structure has been home to Little Star of Broome Street, an early childhood center servicing the neighborhood. Kevin Cronin of the non-profit organization Grand Street Guild is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Construction will soon begin on Riverwalk 8, the eighth building within Roosevelt Island’s Riverwalk rental complex. With groundbreaking imminent, YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for the first renderings of the project.
YIMBY recently featured an update on the construction of Queens Plaza Park, aka 29-37 41st Avenue, as part of our December series on New York City’s tallest new skyscrapers. Now, we have an exclusive first look at a new rendering for the 755-foot-tall and 67-story tower, and its impact on the neighborhood skyline as it rises above Long Island City, Queens. The Handel Architects-designed skyscraper is being developed by The Durst Organization and will soon contain 978,000 square feet of space.
Handel Architects is designing a new residential tower to NoMad at 15 East 30th Street, aka 126 Madison Avenue, which is currently the 25th tallest skyscraper under construction in the Five Boroughs. It sits to the north of 11 East 29th Street, aka Sky House, which is considered to be the first slender residential tower in New York City. Handel’s 51-story, 756-foot-tall building also features a slender profile as viewed from both north and south perspectives. Recent photos show the facade rising several floors above street level as the superstructure begins to peak above the surrounding urban fabric. Fosun Group and JD Carlisle are the developers of the project.
