Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel’s Geometric Façade Begins Installation at 12 East 48th Street in Midtown East

Façade work is underway at 12 East 48th Street on what will become a 161-room Hilton Grand Vacation Hotel. Located in Midtown East between Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue, the reinforced concrete superstructure has already topped out and the curtain wall on the northern elevation is beginning to rise above the ground floor. Designed by Handel Architects, the bright metallic frames that surround the building’s windows will form a subtly oscillating geometric pattern. Hidrock Realty is the developer of the project.

Queens Plaza Park Rising Toward 755-Foot Parapet, at 27-29 Queens Plaza North in Long Island City

Construction on Queens Plaza Park, aka 27-29 Queens Plaza North, is progressing above the streets in the dense downtown neighborhood of Long Island City. The concave, curvilinear southern elevation of the 67-story tower is becoming more visible as the massive reinforced concrete structure rises. The project, which is also addressed 29-37 41st Avenue, will eventually top off at 755 feet tall and become the second tallest skyscraper in the outer boroughs. The 978,000-square-foot project is being designed by Handel Architects, while The Durst Organization is the site’s developer. Selldorf Architects will be designing the interiors.

Work has passed the halfway mark at 460 Main Street, aka Riverwalk 8, one of the newest additions to Roosevelt Island. The 21-story, 341-unit building is designed by Handel Architects and is being developed as a joint venture between The Related Companies and Hudson Companies. This will be the eighth component in the nine-building Riverwalk rental complex. Groundbreaking occurred earlier this year and topping out should happen sometime by the end of the year.
