The Landmarks Preservation Commission will soon announce if developers can move forward with plans to construct a new rooftop pool at 124 Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn. The ten-story building is located within the Brooklyn Heights Historic District and once served as a Jehovah’s Witness dormitory building.
A former Jehovah’s Witness Hotel at 90 Sands Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn will soon be transformed into 491-unit residential property with a mix of deeply affordable and supportive housing units. From Breaking Ground, New York City’s largest supportive housing developer, construction is expected to kick off before the end of November.
As the Jehovah’s Witnesses place their Brooklyn properties on the market, the group has agreed to give the city $5.5 million towards rebuilding Bridge Park 2, located below the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in DUMBO. The park has been in limbo for over a decade, and previous plans to renovate and upgrade the dilapidated site never came to fruition. The redesigned park could have a skate park and a multipurpose field, although the Parks Department will have to finalize the redesign, according to the Brooklyn Paper.
