Services for the UnderServed (S:US) and Bronx Pro have closed on a sizeable construction loan to complete the first phase of a dual-tower affordable housing project in the Morris Heights section of The Bronx. Phase one of the development, a 14-story residential tower, is located at 1600 Grand Avenue and will comprise 325 units.
Jerome Avenue Rezoning
The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) has revealed the first of two new affordable housing properties in the southwest corner of The Bronx. Located in Concourse near the intersection of River Avenue and East 168th Street, Site A will eventually debut as River Commons and will comprise 278 affordable apartments.

The development is alternately addressed as 1840 Jerome Avenue and will comprise a mix of rental apartments, retail space, and community facilities.
A proposal to rezone 73 blocks of Jerome Avenue in The Bronx has passed the Land Use Committee, putting the plan another step closer to realization. The City Council will vote on the matter March 21st, where it is expected to pass. This comes as part of the Mayor’s Mandatory Inclusionary Housing (MIH) program. If the rezoing is approved as expected, roughly 4,600 new apartments could be created, with 1,150 expected to be occupied as affordable housing.
