Local preservationists recently celebrated the Landmark Preservation Commission’s decision to take no action on proposals to redesign 60 Wall Street‘s iconic lobby and atrium in the Financial District of Manhattan. Led by Paramount Group, the building’s current owner, the proposed renovation includes replacement of the atrium’s geometric columns, perforated ceilings, palm trees, and terrazzo flooring with a more modern design by international architect Kohn Pederson Fox.

Construction is rising on One Madison Avenue, a 27-story commercial expansion in the Flatiron District. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by SL Green, the National Pension Service of Korea, and Hines, the project involves the gut renovation and expansion of a former eight-story structure and will yield 1.4 million square feet of office space. AECOM Tishman is the general contractor for the property, which occupies a full block bound by East 23rd and 24th Streets and Madison Avenue and Park Avenue South.

400 Capital Management Inks 25,000-Square-Foot Lease at 660 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

400 Capital Management, a global credit asset manager, is the latest company to join 660 Fifth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. The company’s office will occupy more than 25,000 square feet on the building’s 27th floor beginning August 2024.

Permits have been filed for a 49-story commercial skyscraper at 343 Madison Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan. Located between East 44th and 45th Streets, the 25,000-square-foot rectangular site is one block from the Grand Central-42nd Street subway station, serviced by the 4, 5, 6, 7, and S trains and MetroNorth rails. Boston Properties is listed as the owner behind the applications.

660 Fifth Avenue’s New Curtain Wall Reaches Roof Parapet in Midtown, Manhattan

Re-cladding work is wrapping up on 660 Fifth Avenue, a 39-story commercial tower in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by Brookfield Properties, the project involves extensive interior renovations of the 64-year-old building’s 1.25 million square feet of office space and the complete replacement of its mid-century curtain wall with a more transparent modern envelope. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the property, which is located along Fifth Avenue between West 52nd and 53rd Streets and was formerly addressed as 666 Fifth Avenue. The developer is aiming for LEED Gold certification.

Excavation continues at 520 Fifth Avenue, the site of a 76-story mixed-use supertall in Midtown, Manhattan. Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox for Rabina, which took over as the lead developer in 2019 from Ceruzzi Properties and SMI USA, the slender 995-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 507,608 square feet with 98 residential units, commercial space, and four cellar levels. Suffolk Construction is the general contractor for the property, which is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West 43rd Street.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox for SL Green, the project involves the gut renovation of the existing eight-story building and structural addition above its roof level, bringing the structure up to 1.4 million square feet of Class A office space. Macquarie Group Inks 222,000-Square-Foot Lease at 660 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan

Macquarie Group, a global financial services company, is the latest to join an expanding roster of new commercial tenants at 660 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. As the tower’s anchoring tenant, the firm will occupy 221,764 square feet, spread across six floors, in addition to having a private lobby entrance on both the first and second floors, 30,000 square feet of private outdoor space, and top of building signage.
