LPC to Review Proposal for an Observation Deck at the Chrysler Building

Proposals to construct a new observation deck on the upper floors of the Chrysler Building have arrived for review by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. As promised by Aby Rosen, co-founder of RFR Holding and part-owner of the Midtown East icon, these plans comprise just one phase of his vision to invigorate interior spaces of the landmark at 405 Lexington Avenue with new restaurants, a food hall, and retail spaces.

LPC Reviews Morris Adjmi-Designed Office Building at 1162 Broadway In NoMad, Manhattan

With the application review and public hearing process in full swing, the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is busy working through a backlog of proposed projects. One of the more interesting proposals includes a new commercial building designed by Morris Adjmi Architects at 1162 Broadway in the Madison Square North Historic District. The LPC reviewed the proposals on Tuesday, May 12.

LPC Approved Updated Proposals from BKSK Architects for Hotel Conversion in Union Square

Earlier this year, the Landmarks Preservation Commission reviewed proposals from BKSK Architects to renovate and convert the historic Margaret Louisa Home in Union Square into a hotel. The design team returned to the LPC with updated proposals following feedback and criticism of the original designs. Located at 16 East 16th Street, the six-story Margaret Louisa Home was completed in 1891 and included 78 bedrooms, parlor and reception rooms, private and public dining spaces, and laundry facilities for over 100 women who lived in the building.
