First Glimpse at Gene Kaufman-Designed 76 8th Avenue, Meatpacking

It’s been almost two years since we last checked in on 76 8th Avenue, on the corner of West 14th Street in the Meatpacking District. A few aspects of the building have changed since YIMBY’s last report. Mainly, it will now be a ten-story building, not twelve. This means the project will lose 7,000 square feet, reducing the total area to 30,000 square feet. And now, we have a first glimpse at renderings.

The Upper Upper East Side’s Soon-To-Be Tallest Rising Quickly at 180 East 88th Street

The upper blocks of the Upper East Side are only just starting to sprout legitimately Manhattan-scaled skyscrapers, and what will soon become the tallest in the neighborhood, at 180 East 88th Street, is now rapidly rising. The tower is being developed by DDG, which also does their design in-house, though HTO Architect is listed as the architect of record on the permits.

Mayor de Blasio Unveils Development Plans for Applied Life Sciences Campus Along East River

Mayor Bill de Blasio has disclosed development plans for the Applied Life Sciences Campus, to be built at an undetermined site located along the East River, either in Manhattan or Queens. The city is expected to pump $100 million into the project, Commercial Observer reported. The facility would be geared towards research, development, and training in bioengineering. The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is anticipating to release a request for expressions of interest next year, with a goal to complete the project by 2021.
