The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has selected Foster + Partners and Epstein to help reimagine Manhattan’s 72-year-old Midtown Bus Terminal in Times Square. The replacement project will create a new terminal for New York City buses, dedicated spaces for intercity buses, staging areas, electric vehicle charging stations, outward-facing retail, and 3.5 acres of public green space.
The Landmarks Preservation Commission has approved a large-scale redevelopment project at 251-253 Fifth Avenue in NoMad, Manhattan. Led by TRA Studio Architecture, the project entails the demolition of a low-rise building at 253 Fifth Avenue, the construction of a new 20-story tower in its place, the restoration of a neighboring building at 251 Fifth Avenue, and the integration of both buildings into a singular structure.
Permits have been filed to expand a two-story parking garage into a 13-story mixed-use building at 142 West 21st Street in Chelsea, Manhattan. Located between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, the lot is two blocks south of the 23st Street subway station, serviced by the 1 train. Yiannes Einhorn of Grid Group is listed as the owner behind the applications, after purchasing the property from Jadlamm Realty Corp. for $31 million last year.
