Permits have been filed for the conversion of a four-story commercial building into a 14-story mixed-use building at 75 Essex Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Located between Delancey Street and Broome Street, the lot is one block south of the Delancey Street-Essex Street subway station, serviced by the F, M, J, and Z trains. Nechemia Weinberger of Soft Stone Development Group is listed as the owner behind the applications.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is now reviewing proposals to construct a single-story penthouse at 6-16 West 77th Street in Manhattan’s Central Park West Historic District on the Upper West Side. Designed by Foster + Partners for billionaire investor Bill Ackman and his family, the revised proposals arrive in response to the LPC’s request for reduced visibility and a façade that is more harmonious with the existing building enclosure.

LPC Reviews Top of the Rock Expansion at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan

The Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) is currently reviewing proposals from Tishman Speyer to construct new attractions at Top of the Rock, New York City’s historic public observatory at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Midtown, Manhattan. The attractions will debut as “Lunch atop a Skyscraper,” named after an iconic photograph of 11 construction workers seated along a steel crossbeam high above 30 Rockefeller Plaza in 1932.
