ARO Launches Leasing At 252 West 53rd Street in Midtown Manhattan

Covered from top to bottom in a sleek facade of curved glass corners, tall windows, and white paneling, ARO is a 738-foot, 62-story residential tower that has risen from the former site of the Roseland Ballroom in Midtown, Manhattan. Located at 242 West 53rd Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, the new structure contains nearly 450,000 square feet designed by CetraRuddy Architecture. Algin Management is the developer, and leasing is being led by Triumph Property Group, and has now commenced for the 426 available apartments.

Façade Closing Up, Sales Underway for Solow’s 685 First Avenue in Murray Hill

Back in January of 2017, construction at 685 First Avenue had just reached the fifth floor. In just under two years, the tower and façade have topped out, sales have launched, and completion is expected by the end of the year. Sheldon Solow’s Solow Building Company is developing the 42-story minimalist Murray Hill skyscraper.

Gene Kaufman’s Latest Hotel Tops Out at 525 Eighth Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan

Located in the heart of Midtown between West 36th Street and West 37th Streets is a new hotel that has topped out at 525 Eighth Avenue. Designed by Gene Kaufman Architect, the 28-story building is being developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group. There will be 321 rooms covering a total of 96,000 square feet when complete.

Future Look At Midtown’s Supertall Skyline Circa 2022

There are few places better than Central Park to truly appreciate the scale of New York City. The cliff-like transition from Midtown to Olmsted’s masterpiece is part of what attracts people to the city, and it’s only getting more dramatic. Today YIMBY has a fresh rendering by Jose Hernandez, based on a photograph by Andrew Campbell Nelson from the Met’s Rooftop Garden, which reveals exactly how the skyline is expected to change through 2022 and currently appears in an exhibit at The Skyscraper Museum, in Lower Manhattan.

Rockrose Files Permits for 52-Story Tower at 555 West 38th Street in Hudson Yards

New permits have been filed for a 52-story residential building at 555 West 38th Street in the Hudson Yards district of Manhattan. While the site is across the street from the Jacob Javits Convention center, it is not immediately next to Related’s mega-development, being five blocks away from 55 Hudson Yards. Rockrose will be responsible for the development.

YIMBY Tours Brookfield’s Manhattan West Development, First Look at Rooftop Views

Brookfield has officially celebrated the topping out of the 67-story One Manhattan West, aka OMW, the largest of six structures in their six million square foot Manhattan West development in Midtown West. The project has successfully lured several large companies to lease, and plans to add a significant amount of public space to the city. For a complete update on the construction, YIMBY visited the site, capturing top-floor views from both The Eugene and OMW.

Virgin Hotel Gets Glassy at 1225 Broadway, Nearly Two-Thirds Of The Way to Topping-Out

Construction on the Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway has reached yet another milestone. Since we last checked in May, the building has more than doubled in height, and is nearly two-thirds of the way to topping out 38 floors above street level. The project is being developed by the Lam Group and is part of a larger trend of new hotel towers in the NoMad area near the Empire State Building.

Restoration Announced for Historic Times Square Theater at 215 West 42nd Street

Stillman Development International has unveiled their ambitious renovation plans for one of New York City’s oldest theaters. Located at 215 West 42nd Street, Times Square Theater was originally constructed in 1920 by Italian architect Eugene de Rosa who designed several performance centers in both Manhattan and Staten Island.

220 Central Park South is ever so close to becoming the third slender skyscraper to open up in the last few years along Billionaire’s Row. While Central Park Tower has overshadowed its presence across Midtown, that hasn’t taken away from the attraction for this park-bound limestone real estate. For the next few months, construction workers will be toiling tirelessly to reach the seemingly possible year-end completion deadline.

111 West 57th Street Reveals Two-Story Model Tower & Officially Launches Sales

Earlier this week, 111 West 57th Street finally reached official supertall status, putting it amongst the twenty tallest structures in the United States. Thirty percent of its height remains to be completed. As it reaches this engineering feat, the sales gallery has been launched, and with it the opportunity to spend millions of dollars on some of the highest homes in the city.
