Nehalkumar Gandhi, doing business as an anonymous North Bergen, N.J.-based LLC, has filed applications for a seven-story, 57-key hotel at 314 Pennsylvania Avenue, in northwestern East New York. The project will measure 24,290 square feet and its hotel rooms should average a budget-sized 297 square feet apiece. Guest amenities include a breakfast area, a fitness center, and a reception area. Manish S. Savani’s Jamaica-based architecture firm is the architect of record. The 50-foot-wide, 5,000-square-foot plot is currently occupied by a two-story house. Demolition permits were filed in August. The Liberty Avenue stop on the C train is four blocks to the north.
A hotel boom is taking over the Bronx. Today we noticed plans for a hotel in the northwestern corner of the Bronx, in a working class neighborhood called Norwood. The six-story commercial building would rise at 3466 Webster Avenue, right next to the Williamsbridge stop on the Metro North train.
North Bergen, N.J.-based Nehalkumar Gandhi has filed applications for a 13-story, 48-key hotel at 79 Eldridge Street, on the Lower East Side. The structure will measure 19,279 square feet. The ground floor will host the hotel lobby and a reception area, and hotel rooms will be located through the 12th floor. Individual hotel rooms should average 310 square feet apiece. On the 13th floor, there will be 1,243 square feet of space for a community facility. Amenities include a fitness center and bike storage. Michael Kang’s Flushing-based architectural firm is the architect of record. The filings come after a different developer submitted plans in March for a slightly smaller hotel. That one would have contained 10 stories and 38 hotel rooms. The 25-foot-wide, 2,500-square-foot property is currently vacant.
Yesterday, we told you about a hotel coming to a commercially zoned patch of western Crown Heights. Now, YIMBY has spotted plans for another hotel in the midst of a residential area, but this one is headed for the border between Ocean Hill and Brownsville in eastern Brooklyn. Developer Nehalkumar Gandhi has filed building applications for a six-story hotel at 1668 Eastern Parkway, at the corner of Prospect Place.

The structure will encompass 24,826 square feet. The hotel rooms will be located on the cellar through fifth floors, and guest amenities include laundry facilities, a breakfast area, a fitness center, storage space for two bikes, and 10 off-street parking spots. Michael Kang’s Flushing-based architectural firm is the architect of record. The 100-foot-wide, 10,000-square-foot property is currently occupied by a single-story warehouse. Demolition permits were filed in December. The site is located three blocks from the Simpson Street stop on the 2 and 5 trains. The developer also has plans for two other hotel projects in the Bronx, one at 150 East 185th Street and another 1164 Wheeler Avenue.
