Four-Story, Three-Unit Mixed-Use Project Moves Forward at 61 14th Street, Hoboken

Rohit Bawa, a Manhattan-based restauranteur, is developing a four-story, three-unit mixed-use building at 61 14th Street, located between Washington and Hudson streets in the northern end of Hoboken, N.J. There will be a 1,300-square-foot restaurant on the ground floor, followed by three three-bedroom residential units on the floors above. The apartments will each measure about 1,200 square feet and occupy an entire floor. Two of the units will have private roof decks, Jersey Digs reported.


1024 Adams Street

New Developer Takes Over Seven-Story, 10-Unit Residential Project at 1024 Adams Street, Hoboken

Hoboken, N.J.-based Bijou Properties is in the process of acquiring the site of a planned seven-story, 10-unit residential project at 1024 Adams Street, located on the corner of 11th Street in the northern end of Hoboken. The project was approved in 1998 and amended in 2015, Jersey Digs reported. The apartments will range from three- to four-bedrooms; the project will also include an 11-car parking garage. Nastasi Architects designed the project for the previous developer, although it’s unclear whether Bijou will retain the design. A two-story office building must first be demolished.


359 Halsey Street

Four-Story, 60-Unit Affordable Residential Project Nears Completion at 359 Halsey Street, Newark

Construction is wrapping on the four-story, 60-unit residential project under development at 359 Halsey Street, located on the southern end of downtown Newark, N.J. The 63,030-square-foot building is dubbed The Residences at Symphony Hall and will contain a mix of one- and two-bedroom rental apartments, Jersey Digs reported. All of the apartments will be affordable, and 25 percent of them, or 15 units, will be designated to individuals with mental illness, homelessness or disability.


712 Grand Street

Four-Story, Nine-Unit Mixed-Use Building Planned at 712 Grand Street, Jersey City

Clifton, N.J.-based BuildPro Construction is proposing a four-story, nine-unit mixed-use project at 712 Grand Street, located in Jersey City’s Bergen-Lafayette section. It will contain 500 square feet of commercial space and a 1,296-square-foot parking garage on the ground floor, followed by nine market-rate rental apartments on the floors above. A five-year tax exemption has already been granted by the city, Jersey Digs reported. A construction timeline has not been revealed at this time.

Seven-Story, 79-Unit Residential Project Proposed at 22 New York Avenue, Newark, N.J.

Newark-based New York Garden Associates is proposing a seven-story, 79-unit residential building at 18-26 New York Avenue, in Newark’s Ironbound district. The project would also include a parking garage on the ground floor, Jersey Digs reported. The developer is seeking multiple variances for the project, which must be approved by the city’s Zoning Board of Adjustment. The board heard the proposal earlier this month. The block-thru development site, which consists of seven lots, is vacant.
