Eight-Story Commercial Building At 541 West 21st Street Hits the Market

The eight-story, 65,000 square-foot warehouse at 541 West 21st Street, in West Chelsea, has been placed on the market as a redevelopment site. The property could be worth more than $65 million, according to Crain’s Business. The commercial property is primed for a hotel or office conversion. Property owner Erno Bodek has tasked Meridian Investment Sales and Rosewood Realty Group with marketing the property.

Four-Story, 10-Unit Residential Building Filed At 196 Freeman Street, Greenpoint

Yidel Hirsch has filed applications for a four-story, 10-unit residential building at 194-196 Freeman Street, in northern Greenpoint, three blocks north of the Greenpoint Avenue station on the G train. The building will measure 8,985 square feet, which means units will average nearly 900 square feet. An existing three-story mixed-use building must first be demolished, and Julien Flander is the applicant of record.

Permits Filed: 40 Debevoise Street, Williamsburg

On a dead-end block of Debevoise Street near Bushwick Houses in Williamsburg, a developer wants to erect a five-story, mixed-use apartment building. New building applications were filed last week for a 22-unit project at 40 Debevoise Street, between Graham Avenue and Humboldt Street, just north of the Bed-Stuy border.

Two weeks ago, YIMBY reported on the first permits for La Central, a sprawling affordable housing complex set to rise on a vacant lot in the Melrose section of the South Bronx. Now the city has filed more plans for the development’s two biggest residential towers at 556 and 600 Bergen Avenue, about two blocks from the 3rd Avenue-East 149th Street stop on the 2/5 trains. We’ve also got a few new renderings, including interiors for a planned YMCA.
