Conversion of Vacant Four-Story Firehouse at 120 East 125th Street Underway, East Harlem

Construction is underway to convert the vacant four-story, 7,175 square-foot building at 120 East 125th Street, in northern East Harlem, into a community facility. The Caribbean Center Cultural African Diaspora Institute is moving into the building and leading the $3.5 million conversion. According to Harlem+Bespoke, the interior has been gutted, and completion is expected later this year.

Excavation Begins for 54-Story, 783-Unit Mixed-Use Project at 43-22 Queens Street, Long Island City

In March, YIMBY revealed renderings of Rockrose’s Eagle Lofts, a 54-Story, 783-unit mixed-use tower and factory conversion at 43-22 Queens Street, in Long Island City’s Court Square, and now The Court Square Blog notes partial demolition of the existing six-story factory has wrapped up. Eighty percent of the building is still intact, and excavation has kicked off on Queens Street, where the tower portion will rise. SLCE is designing, and a completion date has not been formally announced.

Four Residential Units Planned At 273 8th Street, New Dorp On Staten Island

Anthony Pistilli has filed applications for two three-story residential buildings, each containing 2 units, spanning the lots 273-277 8th Street, in Staten Island’s New Dorp. The four-total units will divide nearly 5,800 square feet of residential space, and Tony Sayad Architect is designing. Demolition of the existing single-story, two-family structure began earlier this month.


2126 Gerritsen Avenue

Three-Story Multi-Family Project Planned for 2126 Gerritsen Avenue, Sheepshead Bay

Scott Leon, head of JMC Gerritsen Realty LLC, has filed applications for a three-story, 18-unit residential development at the lots spanning 2126-2148 Gerritsen Avenue, in the northeaster corner of Sheepshead Bay. The units will be broken up between three buildings and will combine to net nearly 15,000 square feet; Harry Simino (of Simino Architect) is designing. A two-story, single-family abode and two single-story commercial structures must first be demolished.


41-15 23rd Street

71-Unit Residential Building On Track For 41-15 23rd Street, Long Island City

After two years, property owner Isaac Schwartz has filed more applications for an 11-story, 71-unit residential building at 41-11 – 41-15 23rd Street in Long Island City . The structure will have 59,200 square feet of residential space, and Karl Fischer is designing. The building applications have just been approved, and the single-story warehouse and another two-story structure were demolished earlier this year.
