555 Greenwich Tops Out in Hudson Square, Manhattan

Construction has topped out on 555 Greenwich, a 16-story commercial building in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by the joint venture Hudson Square Properties, which includes Trinity Church Wall StreetHines, and Norges Bank Investment Management, the 270,000-square-foot structure connects on nearly every floor to the adjacent 345 Hudson Street via a horizontal overbuild for a total of 715,000 square feet of leasable office space, with floor plates up to 87,000 square feet each. Tishman Construction is the contractor for the property, which is located on a rectangular plot of land bound by Greenwich Street to the west, Charlton Street to the south, and King Street to the north.

JPMorgan Chase Supertall Continues Ascent at 270 Park Avenue in Midtown East, Manhattan

Construction is continuing to ascend on 270 Park Avenue, JPMorgan Chase‘s new 60-story supertall headquarters in Midtown East. Designed by Norman Foster of Foster + Partners and developed by Tishman Speyer, the 1,388-foot-tall skyscraper will yield 2.5 million square feet of office space and will set the record for the tallest New York City building to be fully powered by a hydroelectric power plant. 270 Park Avenue is rising on a full-block parcel bound by Park Avenue to the east, Madison Avenue to the west, East 47th Street to the south, and East 48th Street to the north.

Work is nearing completion on One Clinton, a 36-story residential tower at 280 Cadman Plaza West in Brooklyn Heights. Designed by Marvel Architects for Hudson Companies, the 409-foot-tall structure yields 295,000 square feet with 134 residential units, a 9,000-square-foot STEM research center, and One Clinton Street Library, a new public library replacing the Brooklyn Heights Library that formerly occupied the site. Consigli & Associates, LLC is the general contractor for One Clinton, which stands on a narrow parcel bound by Clinton Street and Cadman Plaza West.

Hard Rock Hotel Opens For Business At 159 West 48th Street In Times Square, Manhattan

The Hard Rock Hotel at 159 West 48th Street is the newest hotel to open in Midtown, Manhattan’s iconic Times Square district. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Extell and Hard Rock International, the 442-foot-tall, 291,000-square-foot structure features 446 rooms and welcomed its first guests earlier this week. The rectangular reinforced concrete edifice is located by the corner of West 48th Street and Seventh Avenue and was built by AECOM Tishman. Rooms start at $475 per night.

Google’s 2-Acre Rooftop Park Opens to the Public at Pier 57 in Chelsea, Manhattan

New York City’s largest rooftop park opened to the public last week atop Pier 57 in Chelsea. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by RXR RealtyYoungWoo & Associates, Hudson River Park Trust, and The Baupost Group, the 2-acre space is part of a $410 million renovation to the 70-year-old structure in Hudson River Park and now features 350,000 square feet of office space with Google as the anchor tenant. The building will also feature 50,000 square feet of public-oriented amenities on the ground floor developed by Jamestown that include a food hall curated by the James Beard Foundation, community space with flexible layouts available for booking by local organizations, a public gathering place called the Living Room, and an outdoor screening space for the annual Tribeca Film Festival. Pier 57 formerly served as a shipping port and bus depot and is located at the intersection of West Street and West 15th Street.
