One Bell Slip Closes in on Final Levels in North Brooklyn’s Greenpoint Landing

Construction is approaching topping out on One Bell Slip, a 368-foot-tall residential tower in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Brookfield Property Partners and Park Tower Group, the 31-story building will add 413 units to the 22-acre, ten-tower Greenpoint Landing riverfront development. The structure is rising just to the north of the completed 37 Blue Slip.

52-03 Center Boulevard Nears Topping Out in Hunters Point South, Queens

Construction is nearing topping out on 52-03 Center Boulevard, a 587-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in Hunters PointQueens, and number 26 on our countdown of the tallest buildings under construction in New York. Designed by ODA Architecture with SLCE Architects as the architect of record, the 56-story tower is the taller of the two structures in TF Cornerstone‘s Hunters Point South development. The building stands just to the north of its 46-story, 475-foot-tall sibling at 52-41 Center Boulevard, and the pair will bring a total of 1,194 residential units to the East River waterfront. Of these, 719 will be designated for affordable housing.

Six-Alarm Fire Destroys Tenement at 116 Second Avenue and Severely Damages Historic Middle Collegiate Church, in East Village

A six-alarm fire early Saturday morning has destroyed 116 Second Avenue, a vacant 15-unit, five-story tenement building in the East Village, and heavily damaged the 128-year-old Middle Collegiate Church directly next door. The blaze was first reported at 4:48 a.m. and quickly spread to the historic church at 112 Second Avenue, which is located between East 6th and 7th Streets. It took 44 units with 198 firefighters to contain the inferno, and four firefighters suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries. A third structure on East 7th Street also caught fire, but luckily everyone inside was able to safely escape. There is still no word as to the exact cause of the fire at this moment.

The project is located at the intersection of Broadway and West 28th Street.

The property is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 38th Street and West 39th Street, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.
