Excavation Underway for Gene Kaufman’s 974-Room Hotel at 150 West 48th Street, in Midtown

Excavation has begun at 150 West 48th Street in Midtown, site of 974-room hotel designed by Gene Kaufman Architect. The 330-foot-tall, 34-story project is being developed by Sam Chang of McSam Hotel Group, who purchased the lot for $140 million from Rockefeller Group in early 2019 and secured a $250 million construction loan. Rooms will occupy a total of 300,216 square feet, for an average of 308 square feet apiece.

167 Willoughby Street Tops Out In Downtown Brooklyn

Construction has topped out at 167 Willoughby Street, aka 112 Fleet Place, a 132-foot-tall residential building in Downtown Brooklyn. The 12-story structure is designed by Bricolage Design Associates and developed by Boomerang Building Fund, which purchased the lot for just over $4 million. Located at the corner of Willoughby Street and Fleet Place, just to the east of Flatbush Avenue and directly north of the Long Island University Brooklyn campus, the 2,425-square-foot project will bring 23 units to the neighborhood.
