Future Supertall 50 Hudson Yards Reaches Street Level, in Hudson Yards

Recent photos from Tectonic show major progress at 50 Hudson Yards, the last and largest skyscraper to rise in the first phase of Related’s Hudson Yards master plan. The future commercial office building, designed by Foster + Partners and developed by Related Companies, Oxford Properties, and Mitsui Fudosan, will rise 1,011 feet tall and contain 2.9 million square feet of space. The site takes up one full city block just north of 30 Hudson Yards, and sits to the east of the 7 train entrance at Hudson Park.

The massive rectangular-shaped project taking up a full block at 85 Jay Street has officially been dubbed “Front and York,” and today YIMBY has a full update on site progress. Bound by Front Street and York Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn, the 1.1 million square foot residential complex will soon sprout from what was one of the neighborhood’s last and largest undeveloped lots. The new building, with retail shops on the ground floor and a mixture of condominiums and rentals above, is designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, and is being developed by CIM Group and LIVWRK.

After Slaughtering 40,000 New Jobs, Progressive NIMBYs Are New York City’s Number One Enemy

The story of Amazon’s selection of Long Island City for the company’s second headquarters stoked the hopes and dreams of many New Yorkers living within the Five Boroughs, with the company’s promise to bring up to 40,000 new jobs averaging $100,000 per year to Queens, by 2033. Located between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue, the sites are steps away from the 57th Street subway station, serviced by the F train. Anthony Calicchio of Solow Realty & Development Group is listed as the owner behind the applications. Solow Realty has been methodically purchasing parcels on West 57th Street, including 7, 10-14, 16, 20-22; all near their quintessential office property—9 West 57th Street.

11 Hoyt’s Wavy Facade Climbs Higher As Superstructure Nears Topping-Out Above Downtown Brooklyn

11 Hoyt is quickly ascending over Downtown Brooklyn. The building’s sculptural and wavy facade is also making its way up the sides, and beginning to give the tower its signature look. Designed by  Studio Gang Architects with Hill West serving as the architect of record, the project is being developed by Tishman Speyer while Corcoran Sunshine is marketing the residences, with interiors by Michaelis Boyd Associates. The complex will span 770,000 square feet when complete, and boast expansive views of the Downtown Brooklyn skyline and neighboring brownstone-lined streets.
