YIMBY reported on the first permits for a new 25-story development at 50 West 66th Street back in 2015. But since then, the site has seen a dramatic expansion. The Real Deal reports that the developer, Extell, has now acquired approximately 201,000 square feet of additional air rights for $202 million, and renderings have been released of the revised plans for the tower, by Snohetta, which indicate it will one-up 200 Amsterdam Avenue to become the tallest tower on the Upper West Side.
Today, YIMBY has a look at plans for the restoration and expansion of Cort Theater, at 138 West 48th Street, between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. The building is in the heart of the Times Square Theater District, and was designed by Thomas W. Lamb, first opening its doors back in 1912.
Permits have been filed for a six-story residential building at 957 Grand Street in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The site is three blocks away from the Grand Street Subway Station, serviced by the L train. Right past the Subway Station is an active avenue of stores, restaurants, and bars. Mures Corporation will be responsible for the development.
Developer Mordechai Kohn has submitted pre-filings for a four-story residential building at 1259 51st Street, in Borough Park, Brooklyn. The area is predominantly residential, with most buildings along the avenues containing commercial-retail space on ground floor. The site is three blocks away from the 50th Street Subway Station, serviced by the D train.
Renderings have been revealed for a five-story residential building proposed for 514 Halsey Street, in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The surrounding area is almost exclusively residential, with a few small commercial locations dotting the avenues nearby. The site is eight blocks away from the Utica Avenue Subway Station, serviced by the A and C trains. The project was put before the Brooklyn Community Board Landmarks Meeting earlier this month, and Romel Salam will be responsible for development.
