The Fitzroy at 514 West 24th Street Reveals Its Green Terracotta Facade & Copper Windows in West Chelsea

One after another, each remaining vacant lot along the nearly 1.5 mile-long High Line is giving rise to some of the most architecturally innovative design across the Five Boroughs. Each of the new buildings has their own identity and aesthetics, jostling to be the next spectacle in West Chelsea. One long-awaited and highly anticipated project is The Fitzroy, at 514 West 24th Street, designed by Roman and Williams and developed by a partnership between JDS Development and Largo Investments. Now, the scaffolding has come down, revealing what hopefully won’t be a once-in-a-lifetime revival of Art Deco stylings, built for contemporary sensibilities.

A new design is out for the six-story building coming to 3 East 3rd Street, just around the corner from New York’s historic Bowery, the oldest thoroughfare still in use on Manhattan. The corridor has been subject to a recent revival thanks to steady redevelopment with emphasis on the area’s cultural significance over the past few decades.

Permits have been filed for a 21-story mixed-use high-rise at 153-19 Jamaica Avenue, in Jamaica, Queens. The neighborhood has seen a spike in new development since the city announced an action plan to stimulate the local economy. The site is two blocks away from the Jamaica Center subway station, serviced by the E, J, and Z trains. Brooklyn-based BFC Partners will be responsible for the development. The firm is most notable for being part of the joint ventures responsible for the redevelopment of the Bedford Union Armory and Essex Crossing.

Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use development at 41-34 45th Street in Sunnyside, Queens. The site is four blocks away from the 46th Street subway station, serviced by the 7 trains. Owner Juan Rodriguez is listed as behind the applications.

Renderings Revealed for Regal-Retail Complex at 38-01 Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside, Queens

Construction is imminent on a new twelve-story mixed-use building at 38-01 Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside, Queens, and today YIMBY has the first renderings for the project. SBLM Architects is responsible for designing the building, dubbed The Sunnyside. The façade has a mix of curtain wall and steel paneling throughout, employing a blend of various architectural styles.

Permits have been filed for a 22-story commercial office building at 1241 Broadway in Midtown, Manhattan. The architect of the project will be Skidmore Owings & Merrill, who arguably have had the largest impact on New York City’s built environment compared to any other firm. First formed in 1939, they specialize in high-end office space, like the soon-to-be tower in today’s post.

Leasing Begins for Bridgeline Apartments at 329 East 132nd Street in Mott Haven, The Bronx

Real estate sales and marketing firm Citi Habitats has announced a new lineup of available properties at Bridgeline, a recently completed residential project in The Bronx’s Mott Haven. Located in the southern-most tip of the borough at 329 East 132nd Street, future occupants will have views of the Harlem River and the Willis Avenue Bridge.
