Permits Filed for 1336 Bedford Avenue, Crown Heights, Brooklyn

The vacant lot on the corner of Bedford Avenue and Pacific Street, in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, is about to see a major new development. Building applications have been filed for a nine-story structure totaling just under 150,000 square feet, with 94 units in total. While that would normally translate into condominiums, back in January, DNAInfo reported that Newark-based Bedford Arms LLC was seeking to build affordable housing at the site. Now, with permits pulled, they are set to do just that. John Schimenti, P.C. Architect is listed as the designer, and with the lot already cleared, construction should begin imminently.


679 East 21st Street

Permits Filed for 679 East 21st Street, Flatbush, Brooklyn

An existing structure at 679 East 21st Street, in Brooklyn’s Flatbush neighborhood, is about to bite the dust for a new six-story development. Permits filed with the Department of Buildings show that the replacement will total 10,645 square feet, to be divided between 17 apartments, with the average unit size of 626 square feet indicative of rentals. The building will also include a penthouse level. Boaz Golani’s Beam Group is designing the project, and Pena Jovanny of Kendy Construction Corp is listed as the site’s developer.



Printhouse New Rochelle

Groundbreaking for The Printhouse, 165 Huguenot Street, New Rochelle

New Rochelle has seen several new high-rises announced over the past few weeks, but in between the new towers, infill development continues to improve the burgeoning edge city. Yesterday, The Printhouse, at 165 Huguenot Street, broke ground. The building will have 71 rental units, seven of which will be designated as affordable, and will rise six floors. 10 Jay Street

10 Jay Street’s Glassy New Facade Rising, DUMBO, Brooklyn

Glacier Global Partners’ renovation and refurbishment of the 230,000 square-foot warehouse at 10 Jay Street is making major progress, per the latest photos from Tectonic. The 10-story building is receiving a glassy new facade designed by ODA New York, which was first revealed in a video posted by Curbed back in February of 2015. The crystalline exterior is up to the eighth floor of the structure, and completion is likely within the next year or so.
