250 Fifth Avenue Begins Vertical Ascent In Midtown Manhattan

250 Fifth Avenue is an upcoming 23-story, 230-foot tall building in Midtown. The future hotel conversion is being designed by Charles Platt of Platt Byard Dovell White Architects with Perkins Eastman as the architect of record. Empire Management is the developer of the NoMad site. The existing 111-year old, five-story exterior of the McKim, Mead & White building is being preserved and restored. The landmarked facade will sit next to the new structure which will be enclosed in light-colored precast concrete panels and closely spaced, vertical strips of narrow windows along the southern facade.

Rockefeller Group’s Art Deco-Inspired 30 East 29th Street Fully Unveiled in New Renderings, in NoMad

Currently under construction is 30 East 29th Street, located in the heart of NoMad amongst a fever-pitch pace of condominiums and hotels sprouting up in the neighborhood. Designed by CetraRuddy Architecture, the project is being developed by the acclaimed Rockefeller Group. A teaser website has been released and new Art Deco-inspired renderings are also being unveiled for the first time. The building is also getting a new name for itself, called “Rose Hill.”

Concrete pump trucks, mixers, and a rigging crane are working side by side along the northern perimeter of 30 East 29th Street. Located in NoMad, the upcoming Art Deco-inspired residential tower is being designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by the Rockefeller Group. The ground-up structure will rise 639 feet to its rooftop, and make a significant impact on the skyline when completed.

SOM-Designed Office Tower at 1241 Broadway Imminently Set to Begin Construction in NoMad

Sitting on a corner lot at the southwest intersection of Broadway and West 31st Street on the bleeding northern edge of NoMad, 1241 Broadway is slated to become one of Midtown South’s newest office buildings. Designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill, the impending 22-story and 318-foot-tall commercial office tower is being developed by GDS Development and Sweden-based Klovern. With renderings revealed and permits filed, YIMBY stopped by the old parking lot to check on progress. The site has already been vacated and cleared, while the original steel signage for the parking still remains standing above the sidewalk. Triton Construction will be in charge of building the 170,000 square foot project. Their name, along with GDSNY, are displayed on the black fence that currently surrounds the lot.
