Vinoly-Designed Ritz Carlton Hotel & Residences Making Quick Headway at 1185 Broadway, in NoMad

Since the groundbreaking ceremony was held on September 4, 2018, NoMad’s future Ritz Carlton at 1185 Broadway has been making rapid progress. Excavation for the imminently 40-story and 580-foot-tall skyscraper has almost been finished, and rebar from the foundation walls is already poking up above street level. Designed by renowned architect Rafael Vinoly, MarriottRitz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties are the developers, while Yabu Pushelberg is the interior designer for the $500 million project.

NoMad’s First Planned Supertall At 262 Fifth Avenue Appears Stalled, in Midtown Manhattan

Situated at the southwestern corner of Fifth Avenue and West 29th Street is the site of a proposed 1,009-foot condominium tower, known as 262 Fifth Avenue. Renderings were first released in late 2017, showing the very skinny and slender residential building towering over NoMad and Midtown South. Composed of a mix of glass and aluminum walls, the supertall would certainly stand out on the skyline for its height and profile. After the DOB approved plans back in October of 2017, the site was quickly cleared of the previously extant low-rise buildings, however, activity has come to a grinding halt since then. Boris Kuzinez of Five Points Development is developing the tower, while the architect is Meganom, a Russian design firm from Moscow.

Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway Close To Topping Out Above NoMad

Located at 1225 Broadway between West 29th Street and West 30th Street and between Sixth Avenue and Broadway, a new Virgin Hotel is set to rise 476 feet above NoMad. The project will have nearly 300,000 square feet of space, with 460 hotel rooms and 90,000 square feet of retail in the tower’s podium. The building is being designed by VOA Associates and developed by the Lam Group. Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group is in charge of the 38-story hotel management.

756-Foot-Tall & 51-Story 126 Madison Avenue Begins to Get Its Facade in NoMad

Handel Architects is designing a new residential tower to NoMad at 15 East 30th Street, aka 126 Madison Avenue, which is currently the 25th tallest skyscraper under construction in the Five Boroughs. It sits to the north of 11 East 29th Street, aka Sky House, which is considered to be the first slender residential tower in New York City. Handel’s 51-story, 756-foot-tall building also features a slender profile as viewed from both north and south perspectives. Recent photos show the facade rising several floors above street level as the superstructure begins to peak above the surrounding urban fabric. Fosun Group and JD Carlisle are the developers of the project.

Morris Adjmi-Designed 30 East 31st Street Reaches 479′ Pinnacle in NoMad, Manhattan

Construction of the 40-story tall and diagrid-tipped 30 East 31st Street has finally topped out in NoMad. It is now showing off its unique crisscross exterior influenced by surrounding Gothic architecture from the 1920’s and ‘30s. Morris Adjmi Architects is responsible of the design. Along with topping out, glass installation is nearing the peak. Installation of the metal paneling has not yet started.
