Construction on 30 East 29th Street, aka Rose Hill, is moving along quickly in NoMad. Work on the foundations wrapped up in January and now the upcoming 639-foot-tall structure is several floors above street level. The upcoming 49-story project is located between Park Avenue South and Madison Avenue and is being designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and developed by the Rockefeller Group. The residential high-rise will incorporate an Art Deco-inspired design, setting it apart from other neighboring towers rising in the development boom, responsible for changing the skyline south of the Empire State Building.
Construction at 15 East 30th Street, aka 126 Madison Avenue, is climbing higher above NoMad. Work has surpassed the roof of Sky House, one the earliest slender residential skyscrapers in New York City. The upcoming 756-foot-tall, 51-story structure is being designed by Handel Architects while Fosun Group and JD Carlisle are responsible for the development. The tower will contain 180 condominiums, which will average more than 1,600 square feet. The project will yield about 300,000 square feet, with 7,500 square feet of retail space divided among two storefronts facing East 30th Street and Madison Avenue.
Progress has been quick and steady at 1185 Broadway, aka 29 West 28th Street, the future NoMad site of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. Excavation finished in the beginning of January. Since then, the foundations and basement floors have been built to street level and the construction crane is up and running. The $500 million Midtown skyscraper is about to rise at the corner of Broadway and West 28th Street. Designed by Rafael Vinoly, developed by Marriott, Ritz Carlton Hotels, and Flag Luxury Properties, and with interior design by Yabu Pushelberg. The upcoming hotel will rise 40 stories tall and reach 580 feet above Midtown and the surrounding neighborhood.
The future Virgin Hotel at 1225 Broadway has officially topped out above NoMad. The 476-foot tall skyscraper has about 300,000 square feet of newly built space. The interiors will yield a 460-key hotel and 90,000 square feet of retail on the lower podium floors. VOA Associates is the designer of the glass skyscraper while Lam Group is the developer. Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group will be in charge of managing the hotel when completed.
250 Fifth Avenue is an upcoming 23-story, 230-foot tall building in Midtown. The future hotel conversion is being designed by Charles Platt of Platt Byard Dovell White Architects with Perkins Eastman as the architect of record. Empire Management is the developer of the NoMad site. The existing 111-year old, five-story exterior of the McKim, Mead & White building is being preserved and restored. The landmarked facade will sit next to the new structure which will be enclosed in light-colored precast concrete panels and closely spaced, vertical strips of narrow windows along the southern facade.
