418,000 Square-Foot Staten Island Mall Expansion Approved

Last Summer, YIMBY brought you news of General Growth Properties’ plans to expand the 1.2 million square-foot Staten Island Mall, at 2655 Richmond Avenue, by 418,000 square feet. Perkins Eastman is designing, and the first renderings of the expansion were released in February. Now, per Commercial Observer, the City Planning Commission has approved the project, and updated renderings are available. Construction will begin once the DOB green-lights the building permits, and completion is expected in 2017.

Work Begins On 19-Story, 60-Unit Residential Building At 153 Remsen Street, Brooklyn Heights

Excavation and piling work has begun at 153 Remsen Street, in Brooklyn Heights, where Quinlan Development Group and Lonicera Partners are developing a 19-story, 60-unit mixed-use building, only a block away from stations served by the N, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. YIMBY revealed the Perkins Eastman-designed building in February, and 4,575 square feet of retail is planned for the ground floor.


430 Marin Boulevard

35-Story Residential & Retail Building On Track At 430 Marin Boulevard, Jersey City

Forest City Enterprises has received $40 million in state tax credits ahead of their planned 35-story, 421-unit mixed-use building at 430 Marin Boulevard, in downtown Jersey City. According to The Jersey Journal, 85 affordable units are being set aside, and the building will feature 10,126 square feet of retail. A second 35-story building is planned next door, and completion of the first is expected in late 2017. The greater development is dubbed Hudson Exchange West, and Perkins Eastman is designing.
