Foundations Nearing Street Level for Aloft Hotel at 50 Trinity Place in the Financial District

Foundation work is progressing rapidly at 50 Trinity Place, as steel rebar and formwork for the sub-story levels are now reaching street level. Excavation and pilings were still ongoing at the time of YIMBY’s late-July update and now work will soon commence for the superstructure of the ground-up Aloft Hotel. Located in the Financial District at the corner of Trinity Place and Rector Street, diagonally across from Trinity Church, the hotel is designed by Peter Poon ArchitectsFIT Investment Corporation is the developer of the project, and purchased the Lower Manhattan site for $15 million from Sam Chang in 2012.

50 Trinity Place’s Foundation Work Progressing in the Financial District

Excavation and pilings work are underway at 50 Trinity Place in the Financial District, where a 28-story Aloft Hotel will soon rise. The corner property will yield 77,310 square feet and 173 rooms, with seven to eight rooms per floor. There will also be a ground-floor restaurant adjacent to the main lobby, as well as a fitness center on the second floor for hotel guests. The project is designed by Peter Poon Architects and developed by FIT Investment Corporation, which purchased the Lower Manhattan property for $15 million from Sam Chang in 2012.

Aloft Hotel’s Superstructure Climbs Higher at 132 West 28th Street, in Chelsea

The reinforced concrete structure of the 203-room Aloft Hotel at 132 West 28th Street has risen to the tenth floor above Chelsea. YIMBY last reported on the project in late March, when foundations were just about to reach street level. Peter Poon Architects is the designer and while Frank Ng is the developer of the 326-foot-tall, 32-story tower. Now three months of construction work has made the reinforced concrete structure rise to the tenth floor.
