Jacobs Group and developed by partners Simon Baron Development and Quadrum Global. Only ongoing interior work at the 11,372-square-foot retail space reminds passersby of recent construction. Already taller towers rise next door, however ALTA’s pivotal location, expressive façade, and distinctive crown assure the skyscraper’s enduring prominence on the rapidly-growing Long Island City skyline.
New permits have been filed for a 14-story residential building at 53 Huron Street, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Also known as 161 West Street, the proposed development is located on the Brooklyn waterfront four blocks north of WNYC Transmitter Park. It is steps away from Greenpoint landing on the NYC ferry system, and six blocks west of the Greenpoint Avenue subway station, serviced by the G train. London-based private equity firm Quadrum Global is responsible for the application.
Today YIMBY has another exclusive new look at the imminently-opening 29-22 Northern Boulevard, officially dubbed ALTA LIC, in Long Island City, Queens. The 43-story building stands across the street from Dutch Kills Green Park, a small, pleasant public park that is rising in relevance. The Queens Plaza subway station is just one block away, and the Queensboro Plaza station is four blocks further, giving future tenants access to the E, M, N, R, W, and 7 trains.
As the Long Island City boom continues into the end of the decade, several projects that were permitted back in 2014 are approaching their opening day. Today, we have a fresh rendering for what it will imminently look like, as well as word that it has received an official name of ‘ALTA LIC’. The building’s address has also been modified, from the original 29-26 Northern Boulevard.
Excavation work is imminent at 269 West 87th Street, on the Upper West Side, where a 17-story, 39-unit residential building called The Chamberlain is under development. Photos reveal two excavators and a pile driver, among other materials, currently staged at the property. The latest building permits indicate the project will encompass 115,884 square feet and rise 215 feet to the top of its mechanical bulkhead.
