RSVP Architecture Studio is responsible for the industrial-inspired, dark-paneled design. Foremost Contracting & Building, LLC serves as the general contractor.
The 39,579-square-foot hotel at 37-11 23rd Street is on track to join northern Long Island City’s mushrooming crop of lodgings. Construction permits categorize the 93-unit property as a “transient hotel,” a term generally used to describe shelters. The 11-story building towers over the industrial northwest corner of Long Island City.
Construction is now 15 stories above street level on the taller tower of the two-building, 1,115-unit mixed-use project at 22-44 Jackson Avenue, located in the Court Square section of Long Island City. Foundation work is underway on the shorter tower. The structure can be seen thanks to aerial photos posted to the YIMBY Forums by Tectonic. The latest building permits indicate the entire complex will encompass 1,209,884 square feet.
The city is resurrecting a century-old proposal to deck over the active Sunnyside Yards in Queens and develop new housing, retail, and schools on top of it. The New York City Economic Development Corporation released a study this week examining whether the project is feasible and just how much it’ll cost.
An anonymous Financial District-based LLC has filed applications for twin three-story, two-family residential buildings at 46-12 – 46-16 162nd Street, in East Flushing. The buildings will measure 4,010 square feet each. Across both, the apartments should average a family-sized 1,472 square feet apiece. Dezhang Fang’s Flushing-based firm is the architect of record. The 6,000-square-foot plot is occupied by a one-and-a-half-story house. Demolition permits were filed in December.
