YIMBY’s 2019 New Building Report, released this time last year, showed a major jump in applications from 2017 into 2018, with new residential units filed with the Department of Buildings rising from 20,393 to 34,039. YIMBY’s 2020 New Construction Report shows that citywide gains continued into 2019, with total units filed increasing to 36,467, a jump of 2,428 or 7.1%. The Beach 21st Street project, a 226,000-square-foot mixed-use building, will soon break ground as part of the city’s Downtown Far Rockaway Rezoning and Roadmap for Action. The long-running initiative was conceived by Mayor Bill de Blasio to encourage new retail, housing, and investment opportunities in southeastern Queens.
Permits have been filed for a five-story mixed-use building at 38-03 31st Street in Long Island City, Queens. Located between 38th Avenue and 39th Avenue, the interior lot is one block from the 39th Avenue subway station, serviced by the N and W trains. Hooshang Nemat under the LIC 31 LLC is listed as the owner behind the applications.
Tuchman Associates has submitted proposals to amend existing zoning ordinances for the construction of a new mixed-use property in Corona, Queens. Located at 110-40 Saultell Avenue, the building would contain just over 39,000 square feet and top out at six stories.
