Yesterday morning, YIMBY received confirmation that the tallest building of the Hudson Yards mega-development has finally reached its pinnacle, with an American flag rising above the building’s parapet. While some steel remains to be installed before the crown is fully complete, the significance of this is akin to the topping of the spire of a cathedral. In this case, it is a monument to the capitalistic ideals that fuel the contemporary American economy.

Progress on the second highest tower in the Hudson Yards mega-development has reached a milestone. 35 Hudson Yards has officially topped out at 1,009 feet. Now that it has reached that height, it is the ninth tallest structure in New York City and 19th tallest in the United States. Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group are responsible for the development. Next door, 30 Hudson Yards is tantalizingly close to topping out, but the milestone has not yet officially occurred.

Excavation Wraps for Foster + Partners’ 50 Hudson Yards as Foundation Work Begins

Excavation at 50 Hudson Yards is nearing completion, and thanks to an aerial by Archartdescon, we can see that foundation work has also now commenced. Construction is advancing with incredible speed, and most of the site has been cleared since YIMBY’s last report in November. The pace isn’t too surprising when one considers the several excavators operating simultaneously. Related Companies is responsible for the Hudson Yards development.
