New renderings, depicting the final design, are now available for the 25-story, 115-unit mixed-use building under development at 565 Broome Street (a.k.a. 100 Varick Street), in Hudson Square. The renderings come as sales have launched for the project’s condominiums. The latest building permits indicate the structure will eventually encompass 322,154 square feet and rise 290 feet above street level to its roof, which doesn’t include the bulkhead.
Back in March, a rendering was revealed of Columbia University’s three-story, 55,980-square-foot University Forum and Academic Conference Center at 3205 Broadway, located on a triangular block bound by West 125th and 129th streets and Broadway, in the Manhattanville section of Harlem. At the time, excavation work was underway at the site, but now foundation work has commenced, Harlem+Bespoke reports. The structure will feature a café, an information center, offices and meeting rooms, and two auditoriums. The building is the part of the Columbia’s greater Manhattanville campus, which, when fully built out, will span 17 acres and roughly a dozen buildings. Renzo Piano Building Workshop is the design architect and Dattner Architects is the architect of record. Completion is expected in 2018.

Greene Science Center at 3229 Broadway, between West 129th and 130th Streets, in the Manhattanville section of Harlem. It was the first building to rise within Columbia’s new 17-acre Manhattanville campus. Later that year, the single-story structures on the triangular lot immediately to the south were demolished in preparation for Columbia’s three-story, 55,890-square-foot academic conference center. Harlem+Bespoke now has a rendering of that building, located at 3205 Broadway. The building will include a café, an information center, offices, meeting rooms, and two auditoriums. Over the summer summer, YIMBY partially revealed renderings for the planned 25-story, 115-unit residential building at 565 Broome Street (a.k.a 100 Varick Street), in Hudson Square. The developers have now secured a $320 million construction loan for the project, according to Crain’s, and Cindat (the U.S. branch of Beijing-based China Cinda Asset Management Co.) also acquired a $135 million stake in the project. The development team – SHVO, Bizzi & Partners Development, Halpern Real Estate Ventures, Aronov Development, and Itzhaki Acquisitions – recently acquired the two-story annex at 555 Broome for $9 million, completing the assemblage.
