Renderings Revealed for Senior Affordable Housing Development at 1677 St. Marks Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn

Recent renderings offer a first look at the Catholic Charities Loreto Apartments, an affordable housing development under construction at 1677 St. Marks Avenue in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Designed by RKTB Architects and developed by Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens, the project will contain 135 apartments reserved for low-income seniors. The development will replace the Our Lady of Loreto Church, which was demolished in 2017.

Pelli Clarke Pelli’s 555 West 38th Street Rapidly Ascends in Hudson Yards

Construction passes the halfway mark at 555 West 38th Street, a 570-foot-tall residential skyscraper in Hudson Yards and number 29 on our countdown of the tallest construction projects in New York. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Rockrose with SLCE as the architect of record, the 52-story project will yield 598 rental units. The property is located along Eleventh Avenue between West 38th Street and West 39th Street, directly across from the Jacob K. Javits Center.

Ornamental Elements Installed on Nearly Finished Turkevi Center at 821 First Avenue in Turtle Bay

Number 30 on our countdown of the tallest projects under construction in New York is the Turkevi Center, a 563-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper at 821 First Avenue in the Midtown East neighborhood of Turtle Bay. Designed by Perkins Eastman, the 35-story tower will serve as the consulate for the Republic of Turkey.

1059 Third Avenue’s Façade Continues Installation on the Upper East Side

Façade installation is moving along at 1059 Third Avenue, a 481-foot-tall mixed-use tower on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by Manuel Glas Architects for Real Estate Inverlad and Third Palm Capital, the slender 30-story structure is located between 62nd Street and 63rd Street and will yield a total of 127,000 square feet of newly built space. The property will contain 38 condominiums spread across 103,900 square feet, averaging around 2,740 square feet apiece.

Exterior work is now fully complete at 25 Park Row, a 702-foot-tall mixed-use skyscraper in the Financial District, and what had been an active project on YIMBY’s annual December countdown list the past few years. Designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by J&R Music World’s Friedman family and L+M Development Partners, the 50-story reinforced concrete structure contains a total of 110 residences. YIMBY recently spoke with L+M’s Tell Metzger about the rise of the new tower, the evolution of the surrounding neighborhood, and the changing styles of contemporary residential high-rise design.

City Council Grants Preliminary Approvals for 50-Story Redevelopment Project in Downtown Jersey City

The project is referred to as the Laurel-Saddlewood Redevelopment Plan and will replace two derelict townhouse courts with market-rate and affordable housing, a new public school, community facilities, and retail space.
