Façade Installation Begins for Gene Kaufman-Designed 1050 Sixth Avenue, Midtown Manhattan

The Gene Kaufman designed-1050 Sixth Avenue, dubbed ML House, is making significant progress in the heart of Midtown, Manhattan. In a break from the architect’s norm, the building will not be hospitality-minded; rather, it will yield 24 floors of apartments, as well as ground-floor retail space. The site is half a block away from Bryant Park, with access to several subway lines just a few blocks in any direction. Orin Wilf’s Garden Homes and Skyline is responsible for the development.

Design Revealed for 145 Central Park North, 14-Story Condo Project Coming to Harlem

With so much focus on the rising developments along Central Park South, there hasn’t been much discussion of new penthouses rising on the other end of the greenery, mostly because they are very few and far between. One of those rarities is 145 Central Park North, a 14-story residential building near the center of Central Park North in Harlem, between 7^th Avenue and Malcolm X Boulevard. Today, YIMBY has the first rendering of the project, which is being developed by Einhorn Development Group.

Massive 2,200-Unit Redevelopment Revealed for Former Peninsula Hospital in Queens

Redevelopments with thousands of residential units aren’t particularly common in New York City, however, the past several months have brought proposals for such projects to ULURP from several locations, including the tentative 1,642-unit expansion of Lenox Terrace, in Harlem. The site is about a mile away from the Locus Manor train station, serviced by the Long Island Railroad. Fifth Avenue Community will be responsible for the development. The organization is dedicated to creating affordable housing, educating, advocacy, and workforce development.

New Census Estimates Show Marginal Population Gains Across Five Boroughs, Appear Highly Inaccurate

The official Census guesswork for 2017 has now been released, showing a gain of 7,272 individuals across the Five Boroughs, and a drop of over 2,000 people in Brooklyn. While the actual Census in 2010 was decried as leaving hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers missing from the count, it seems that whoever was behind the calculations for 2017 may have been even more incompetent, with changes to the borough-by-borough tallies painting a picture that makes no sense whatsoever.
