Supertall office towers are nearing a dime a dozen in Hudson Yards, with 30 Hudson Yards already passing the 984-foot mark, and 1 Manhattan West, The Spiral, and 50 Hudson Yards set to eclipse it over the next few years. While most of the neighborhood’s residential towers have been a few steps behind their larger companions along 57th Street, the Skidmore, Owings & Merrill-designed 35 Hudson Yards will be the first to pass the threshold. Construction has wrapped on an affordable housing project at 1561 Walton Avenue, in The Bronx’s Concourse neighborhood. The 11-story building was a joint development by the Briarwood Organization and the Settlement Housing Fund (SHF), to create 59 affordable apartments for people with an income of 40% to 90% relative to the Area Median Income. The building was designed with the goal of fostering community within open spaces. Briarwood is also responsible for general contracting, while SHF is responsible for development.

Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 136-78 41st Avenue, in Flushing, Queens. The construction is three blocks away from the Main Street Station, the last stop for the 7 train in Queens. Two blocks away is the Flushing-Main Street Train Station, serviced by the Port Washington line of the Long Island Rail Road. Developer Hui Chen will be responsible for the project.

Today, YIMBY has the reveal for renderings of a 15-story affordable housing development at 1932 Bryant Avenue, in The Bronx’s West Farms neighborhood. The site will yield 319 affordable apartments just two blocks away from the West Farms Square Subway Station, which is serviced by the 2 and 5 trains. The Bronx Zoo is also nearby, in the same park as the New York Botanical Garden. Second Farms Neighborhood Housing is responsible for the development.
