Permits have been filed for a six-story mixed-use building at 161 Harrison Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s Broadway Triangle. Located between Walton Street and Wallabout Street, the interior lot is a short walk to the Lorimer Street subway station, serviced by the M and J trains and the Flushing Avenue station, serviced by the G train. Jay Fried of Yeshiva Beor Hatorah is listed as the owner behind the applications.
A Brooklyn-based company has filed applications for a four-story, 8,569-square-foot commercial building at 1041 Flushing Avenue, on the southern end of East Williamsburg. The ground and cellar levels will contain a 2,100-square-foot restaurant, followed by a 4,369-square-foot daycare center across the second through fourth floors. Syed Rizvi’s Long Island-based Rike Tech Associates is the applicant of record. The 25-foot-wide, 2,695-square-foot lot is vacant. The Morgan Avenue stop on the L train is six blocks away.
Eastern Greenpoint has long been grittier and more industrial than its western sibling, but that hasn’t stopped developers from venturing to the area around the elevated Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the Newtown Wastewater Treatment Plant. Yesterday, new building applications were filed for a five-story apartment building at 19 Hausman Street, half a block north of the elevated highway that runs along Meeker Avenue.
Just about every empty lot and warehouse in northern Greenpoint is becoming a small apartment building, but Hadas Hakmon’s M Development has snagged one of the last available sites in the area at 44 Box Street, a block from Newtown Creek and the East River waterfront.
