The Cove at 43-12 Hunter Street sits in the middle of Long Island City, Queens. The detailed grey-colored curtain wall of windows and metal panels cover the entire 18-story, reinforced concrete edifice. Right now the final touches remain on the ground-floor envelope, sidewalk, and interiors. SLCE Architects is the designer of the building and Slade Architecture is in charge of the interior design. Rockrose Development is the developer of the triangular site, which was previously purchased for $1 million back in 2006. The Cove will yield 123 rental units with 37 units being affordable homes, or roughly 30 percent of the total inventory.

Excavation Progressing Quickly for Pelli Clarke Pelli’s 555 West 38th Street in Hudson Yards

Excavation has progressed significantly at 555 West 38th Street since YIMBY last checked in on the Hudson Yards site in late August. Construction workers have ripped up all of the asphalt from the parking lot that formerly occupied the property and have unearthed a substantial amount of dirt. The plot will eventually give rise to a 52-story residential skyscraper designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and developed by Rockrose. Located directly across Eleventh Avenue from the Jacob K. Javits Center, the 570-foot-tall tower will contain 598 rental units. SLCE is the architect of record.

The curtain wall has reached the top of the 18-story reinforced concrete structure and work is wrapping up on the ground floor façade and interiors. Work is set to begin at 555 West 38th Street, the site of a 52-story residential skyscraper designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. Located to the north of the first phase of Hudson Yards along Eleventh Avenue, the property sits directly across from the new expansion of the Jacob K. Javits Center and a couple streets south of the Lincoln Tunnel entrance. Machinery is on site in preparation for the excavation of the asphalt-covered lot to make way for the 570-foot-tall tower.
