Work on 460 Main Street, aka Riverwalk 8, has topped out. One of the newest developments to rise on Roosevelt Island, the project contains the first permanent affordable housing to be built on the island. The 21-story, 340-unit building is designed by Handel Architects and is being developed as a joint venture between The Related Companies and Hudson Companies. Riverwalk 8 is the eighth component in the nine-building Riverwalk rental complex.
Work has passed the halfway mark at 460 Main Street, aka Riverwalk 8, one of the newest additions to Roosevelt Island. The 21-story, 341-unit building is designed by Handel Architects and is being developed as a joint venture between The Related Companies and Hudson Companies. This will be the eighth component in the nine-building Riverwalk rental complex. Groundbreaking occurred earlier this year and topping out should happen sometime by the end of the year.
Construction will soon begin on Riverwalk 8, the eighth building within Roosevelt Island’s Riverwalk rental complex. With groundbreaking imminent, YIMBY has the exclusive reveal for the first renderings of the project.
The first few components of Cornell’s new tech campus on Roosevelt Island are finally complete, and Tectonic has sent along photos documenting the progress. The development consists of 700,000 total square feet sprawling across an academic building, an incubator dubbed “The Bridge,” and a high-rise residential tower, which had topped-out as of YIMBY’s last update on the site, from June of 2016. Handel Architects is responsible for the design of the first phase of the project, but Skidmore Owings & Merrill is taking charge of the master plan, which will result in a new “Executive Education Center and Hotel” rising by 2019, as well.
Now that construction is wrapping up on the first phase of Cornell Tech‘s Roosevelt Island campus, and opening is expected in the summer of 2017, per Crain’s, officials are moving ahead with additional pieces of the master plan. Plans were recently presented to Community Board 8 for the Executive Education Center and Hotel, DNAinfo reported.
