Renderings Revealed for SOM’s South Street Seaport Museum, in Lower Manhattan

Renderings have been revealed for a six-story, 30,000-square-foot building that will house the South Street Seaport Museum. Located at John and South Streets, the new construction is part of a massive undertaking by the Howard Hughes Corporation and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in the South Street Seaport District that also includes 250 Water Street, the completed Pier 17 building, and the 75,000-square-foot New Market Building adjacent to the Tin Building, which is already in progress.

Verizon Executive Education Center and Graduate Hotel Nears Completion on Roosevelt Island

Work is wrapping up on the Verizon Tech Executive Education Center and Graduate Hotel on Roosevelt Island. The topped-out, 18-story structure is designed by Snøhetta and includes an adjacent four-story annex. Graduate Hotels is the operator of the 224 hotel rooms. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is the master planner of the island campus, while Hudson CompaniesRelated Companies, and Brookfield are developing the entire Cornell Tech satellite location.

First Renderings Revealed for Solow’s 52-Story Skyscraper at 12 West 57th Street, in Midtown Manhattan

Today, YIMBY has the exclusive scoop for the first renderings of developer Sheldon Solow’s next skyscraper, at 12 West 57th Street in Midtown, Manhattan. The 672-foot-tall, 52-story skyscraper will rise directly across 57th Street from the Solow Building at 9 West 57th Street, and is also designed by Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill. Solow Management Corp. filed permits for the development in 2019, and since then demolition has been clearing the buildings on the lot, spanning from 10 to 20 West 57th Street and back to 56th Street, one by one.

Renderings Revealed for South Street Seaport’s New Market Building, in Lower Manhattan

A complete set of renderings have been revealed for the 75,000-square-foot New Market building in Lower Manhattan’s South Street Seaport. The construction is part of a massive undertaking by the Howard Hughes Corporation and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in the South Street Seaport district. The community facility space will sit adjacent to the Pier 17 building and the Tin Building, which is currently being rebuilt and will reopen in early 2021.

Demolition Progressing for Solow’s 52-Story Skyscraper at 10-20 West 57th Street, in Midtown

Demolition has been gradually progressing at 10-20 West 57th Street in Midtown, the site of a proposed 52-story skyscraper from Skidmore Owings & Merrill and Solow Realty & Development Group. Located on Billionaires’ Row between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, the new development will rise 672 feet and contain 383,000 square feet, according to permits filed in February of 2019. The majority of the structure would be devoted to residential space, with 202,738 feet spread across 80 units.
